Spearfish Canyon: Off the Beaten Path
Spearfish Canyon’s scenic byway is arguably one of the prettiest stretches of road anywhere. While it gives visitors easy access to views of iconic waterfalls, fall colors, and the towering canyon cliffs, there is much more to be seen for those willing to venture away from the roadside. On this workshop we will take you to some of the locals’ favorite places in Spearfish Canyon off of the main road, where we will focus on taking photos of the stunning scenery at these spots.
So if you are up for a little exploring, grab your camera and hiking boots as we get off the beaten path in the Black Hills!
Type: Outdoor Workshop
Activity Level:  Moderate to Strenuous.
Things to know:  There is hiking to the photo locations on sometimes steep and uneven terrain. We have a selection of places to choose from, we will finalize which ones we will be visiting just prior to the workshop to make sure you get the best photo ops and stay safe.
What to bring:¬†¬†Lenses from wide angle to telephoto. ¬†A polarizer will come in VERY handy for removing shine from water and wet rocks, and adding pop to fall foliage and skies. We recommend hiking clothing and footwear with good traction that you don’t mind getting wet, as we will be near water. A light weight tripod that you can hike with is also strongly recommended, as some locations may be in heavy shade.
